We want to congratulate Dr. James Wolff, associate professor of global health at Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH), for winning the prestigious Metcalf Award for for Excellence in Teaching. Among his recent accomplishments, he was cited for his work with students in the School of Public Health Scholars Implementing Health Programs in Developing Countries class, where he helps students get hands-on learning with real NGO’s, who are likewise aided by the effort. According to this article in BU Today, “student evaluations rave about Wolff and call his courses: “thought-provoking,” “practical,” and “passionate.””
Dr. Wolff works on our Community Link project with Jacey Greece, SPH clinical assistant professor at SPH, to create an online portal for courses that collaborate with community health agencies in the Boston area and beyond. The Community Link portal is an example of hands-on learning that will not only showcase BU collaboration projects but allow BU students and service centers to engage remotely throughout the semester, sharing ideas, information and assignments.
