Data Analysis
Data Analysis Tools
Boston University supports multiple platforms used to collect, organize, and analyze data. The two primary platforms used at BU are NVivo and Qualtrics. Both platforms have powerful capabilities in data analysis, and can help faculty and staff to:
- Gather research
- Receive detailed (potentially anonymous) feedback from students on teaching practices
- Evaluate student or staff satisfaction with a department or college’s practices
Use NVivo to analyze and organize large or small amounts of qualitative data, and quickly discover trends and correlations.
Use Qualtrics to create, distribute, and analyze surveys using extensive options for question formats and skip/display logic.
Information from Qualtrics can be imported to NVivo for further analysis. Find out how here.

Support for Data Analysis Tools
EdTech offers trainings in the use of NVivo and Qualtrics.
QSR, the creator of NVivo, offers free webinars on the use of NVivo. Register here.
