The Educational Technology (EdTech) team helps all BU faculty and academic staff to learn technological tools for more effective teaching. We aid in helping you use technology to gain more student engagement, better use of time for you and your students, and to support innovative experiments in learning. We work closely with the Center for Teaching & Learning to aid in successful design of courses and programs.
To take advantage of our services, email askedtech@bu.edu.
Consulting & Technology Evaluation
Members of our team are available to assist you, your school, or your college to identify how to best plan and implement a learning initiative. We will match the best technology solutions to your needs. We also provide individual assistance and troubleshooting with specific technology challenges confronting you.
If you or your school or college is interested in launching a new initiative, either with a DL&I grant or through another funding method, we can work as part of your team to identify technology solutions from our existing portfolio or from external sources.
Technology Training Resources
In addition to one-on-one consultations, EdTech and IS&T offer year-round trainings on various technologies. Please check the IS&T training calendar for course offerings and registration information. Online training is also available. Instructional Support from our Educational Technologists is available on both the Charles River and the Medical Campus.
In addition to our campus-wide staff, many schools and colleges have internal staff who can assist with educational technology as well. Visit our Resources section for a partial list of these resources. And if you learn of changes or additions to this list, please let us know by emailing askedtech@bu.edu.
Media Production Support for Blended Programs
In addition to the individual and classroom media capture capabilities we support, Edtech also has a small studio and a skilled production crew available to help you with custom video creation.
Communities of Practice
All faculty, staff, and IS&T educational technologists are invited to join our Teaching With Technology Faculty Community. The purpose of the Teaching with Technology Community group is to create a network for BU faculty to share ideas and learn new approaches to teaching with digital technologies. The group provides an opportunity for faculty members to discuss ways in which technology tools can benefit students’ learning, as well as how to advocate effectively for teaching with technology.
All BU staff interested in Educational Technology are invited to join Educational Technology Collective. We provide gathering places for technology users from across BU to meet and discuss platforms that can help improve the experiences of instructors, staff members, and students. The EdTech Collective helps BU staff stay aware of the resources BU already has and new developments in those resources. If you are interested in joining the EdTech Collective, please email askedtech@bu.edu
