BU’s impact extends far beyond our campus. Our students, faculty, and alumni travel around the globe to study, teach, and work. We are also a charter member of edX, the global consortium of open source learning.
Through our charter membership with edX, we provide global access to quality courses for serious lifelong learners in almost 180 countries. Our innovative Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) enable talented BU faculty to build awareness for BU while sharing their passion for their subjects.
Faculty tell us that the experience of running one of these courses brings new life and ideas to their classroom teaching.
Share your knowledge. Ignite passion for your discipline. Get inspired in new teaching paradigms. All while building BU’s worldwide reputation.
What is a MOOC?
If you are not familiar with edx, MOOC is the acronym for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), which are aimed at unlimited, global learner participation and access at no cost to the students. According to edX, 11 million students worldwide currently use its platform. By studying the data collected from learners of different ages and demographics, we can see not only what we learn online, but patterns of how we do it best.
