COM Beyond

Project Description

The Boston University College of Communication (COM) seeks to expand the circle of learners it serves to include lifelong learners from their teen years through their adult lives. To do this, COM has created a stand-alone website called COM Beyond as a platform to offer non-credit workshops, conferences and other opportunities beyond the pursuit of a traditional degree.

COM Beyond is now home to professional education programs such as Data+Narrative; academic peer programs such as the Biometric Workshops; pre-college summer programs such as the Summer Journalism Institute and the Academy of Media Production; and special events such as the International History of Public Relations Conference.

COM plans to expand its use of the platform in 2021 with a mix of online and in-person educational offerings.

Partners

BU Hairpin

Hairpin

Hairpin builds brands for world-changers, do-gooders & hell-raisers. We’re partnering with our fellow communicators at COM Beyond to create a digital hub where lifelong learners can access skill-building workshops and services. In addition to designing the logo, Hairpin also designed and developed an interactive website that features a shopping cart system for users to register and pay tuition, and a flexible module system for course administrators. We’ve also produced digital and print ad campaigns to promote COM Beyond offerings including mailers, postcards, a poster, and digital display graphics. Learn more: hairpin.org.
