ENG Connect

Project Description

The goal of ENG Connect was to improve the quality of mentoring at the College of Engineering by more closely linking undergraduate academic advising with career advising through a network of ENG alumni connections.

Project Team

Ruthie Jean

Prior to joining CFA as Associate Dean of Academic Services and Enrollment, Ruthie Jean (CLA ’91 & SED ’95) was responsible for the management of all programs sponsored by the College of Engineering Office of Undergraduate Programs, in her role as Director of Undergraduate Programs. She was tasked with assessing the effectiveness of student programs and developing new programs as needed. Ruthie worked collaboratively with the College leadership team, faculty and the Undergraduate Programs staff to assure that academic advising programs provide the necessary level of student support. In addition, she was responsible for counseling and recruitment procedures, publications (bulletin copy, websites, videos, etc.), management of the study abroad programs and the daily operations and functions of the Office and staff. With her 20 years of experience in the College of Engineering, Ruthie drew upon her relationships with previous alumni to pilot ENG Connect.

Alex Hille

Alex Hille, Project Coordinator (ENG ’16) graduated with his BS in Biomedical Engineering. During his time as an undergraduate student, Alex worked on designing a breathalyzer device for a smartphone with a corresponding iPhone application. Outside of his academics, he served as an Engineering Student Advisor for Boston University’s Orientation, Program Assistant for the College of Engineering Office of Undergraduate Programs, Residence Assistant for Residence Life, and Committee Chair for the Alternative Service Breaks program. He has continued mentoring current and prospective students, while gaining experience with coordinating special projects and programs.
